Challenge
Between 2012 and 2015, Commerzbank embarked on a comprehensive transformation of its Frankfurt headquarters in the Lateral Towers, with the aim of establishing new ways of working across different business units. The goal was to create workspaces designed for collaboration and flexibility, whilst meeting organisational requirements and the bank’s ambition for continuous innovation.
Our approach
BICG designed and implemented a multi-level approach, combining architectural redesign with structured change management support. Key initiatives included: workspace analysis, flexible space design, clean desk and open-plan policies, employee engagement and change management, and communication strategy.
Generated impact
73% of employees felt more comfortable in their new workspaces. Workplace-related costs were reduced by 34%. Paper printing was reduced by 67%, promoting a more sustainable environment. Archiving space was reduced by 62% across the three office buildings. 71% of employees said they would recommend New Work to their colleagues, and 85% found the communication and change process useful for understanding the new concepts.
