Challenge
Commerzbank needed to drive cultural and operational change across its organisation by introducing a unified New Ways of Working (NWOW) strategy. The aim was to modernise working practices, optimise office spaces and align the workplace vision across multiple locations.
Our approach
Together with BICG, Commerzbank adopted a holistic transformation strategy that integrated space, culture, technology and processes. The journey began with office optimisation and evolved into a global framework supported by a General Works Agreement. Change agents and stakeholder engagement played a key role in local implementation, whilst pilot projects in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin helped scale the model across the organisation.
Generated impact
The initiative fostered a cultural shift towards collaboration, wellbeing and innovation. The redesigned workspaces and new ways of working empowered both employees and managers. The strategy laid a solid foundation for continuous evolution, culminating in a renewed effort to rethink the vision of the workplace and the principles of NWOW, ensuring long-term adaptability and alignment with future needs.
