Challenge
Between 2022 and 2025, Schaeffler expanded its e-mobility campus in Bühl with a new “project house” dedicated to electrified mobility. The main challenge of the project was not only to create innovative workspaces, but also to drive a cultural transformation. The analysis identified weak informal interaction, meeting overload, siloed communication and insufficient support for creative and project-based work. The new “project house” was designed to overcome these barriers, foster collaboration and innovation, and lay the foundations for a forward-looking approach to e-mobility.
Our approach
BICG delivered a large-scale New Work programme covering the analysis, strategy and design of the building. A pilot was developed in which strategic initiatives such as the digital workstation were launched. In addition, block-and-stack planning, furniture concepts and a phased change programme were implemented, supported by a network of ambassadors, co-design and PMO support to ensure a smooth rollout.
Generated impact
Today, some 430 employees tackle complex client projects and develop cutting-edge electric drive systems in a flexible, future-oriented environment. Thanks to the New Work concept, the campus now provides the spatial, technical and organisational foundations for seamless hybrid collaboration, a more dynamic informal exchange and an even more attractive working environment.
