SABADELL: Unification and optimisation in the context of hybrid working
The Challenge: Consolidating all staff into a single space
After the COVID-19 pandemic, Banco Sabadell faced the need to centralise its staff, who had been operating in various locations, into a single space. This challenge involved not only a physical move but also the implementation of a hybrid and flexible working model that would allow employees to adapt to new dynamics. For this, Sabadell trusted bicg as a strategic partner to transform 3,000 m² of Sabadell Tower, unifying teams and optimising space usage.

The Solution: An agile and efficient working model
The aim was to create an environment that embraced new trends of non-territoriality by implementing the clean desk concept and creating “neighbourhoods” and “communities”. For the Mexico headquarters project, bicg developed the strategy and implemented the working ecosystems, encompassing not only spatial but also technological infrastructure.
Bicg worked to maximise operational efficiency, achieving savings of up to 40% in rental and operational costs. A significant challenge was reusing 90% of the existing furniture, which required a meticulous labelling and management strategy to move over 1,000 pieces.
The process included a preliminary assessment of the real needs and expectations of employees in relation to hybrid working, alongside an analysis of the existing infrastructure to identify areas for improvement. Following this, they developed an infrastructure plan that considered collaborative spaces and individual work areas, all while ensuring advanced technological equipment to facilitate both remote and in-person working.

Bicg focused its approach on both people and the environment, promoting constant interaction between the two throughout the process: employees and the new headquarters. While every change brings certain logistical challenges, bicg addressed these with an effective communication strategy, conveying control and transparency at every stage. This multi-level communication allowed the project to progress as planned, ensuring that the set goals were achieved.
The Result: A space ready for new work dynamics
The impact of this transformation was clear from day one of operation. In terms of savings, Sabadell reduced rental costs by 30%, and the additional costs of the project remained within 10% of the initial budget.
The satisfaction of both employees and leaders, improvements in lighting, the spaciousness of the areas, and the introduction of new layouts—such as booths and lounge zones—strengthened the sense of belonging and wellbeing in the work environment. Additionally, the brand image became more cohesive, reinforcing corporate identity.
The focus on reusing furniture and optimising space not only led to significant savings but also improved the work experience for employees. Sabadell now enjoys a modern, flexible environment in line with the current demands of the financial sector.
