The Challenge: Evolving to an Agile and Collaborative Culture
Indra, an innovator in information technology, defence systems and consulting, faced a critical challenge: transforming its organisational culture and ways of working to adapt to agile methodologies. Indra’s vision was to create an environment where its employees could collaborate more effectively and from anywhere within its Madrid headquarters.
With this goal in mind, we established a clear mission: help the company transition to an open and collaborative culture by developing the concept, layout and design of its new spaces, aligning them with Indra’s corporate values.

The Solution: Spaces that Reflect Philosophy and Values.
A design that not only facilitated collaboration and agile working, but also embodied the company’s philosophy was needed. The new space design was conceived to reflect Indra’s corporate image, translating its values into an accessible and permeable working environment.
At the heart of the headquarters, the Executive Core zone was redesigned to prioritise collaboration, replacing private offices with a communal space offering multiple meeting opportunities in a variety of settings. The central working area for management, known as the ‘Cockpit’, would become an open space that encourages interaction. Organic materials, such as bamboo partitions and natural vegetation preserved in glass panels, create biological privacy barriers between the different areas, promoting a more natural working environment connected to nature.
Key Areas: Innovation and Collaboration in Every Space
A space specially designed to foster communication and host corporate events is ‘In-Work’. Here, flexible workshop and videoconference rooms are grouped around a central agora, designed in bamboo and blue tones, which creates a welcoming atmosphere and, at the same time, reflects Indra’s corporate image.
The workspaces are organised in small ‘neighbourhoods’ of shared desks, divided by collaboration rooms, quiet rooms and agile points, which are corners for impromptu meetings with a special focus on visualisation. All areas feature a central meeting space with display screens and informal furniture for larger meetings, complemented by biophilic elements that create a welcoming, almost homely entrance. The common areas are unified by warm materials, while the work areas have a neutral, calming backdrop in shades of grey and white, emphasising the natural light of the space.
The ‘Workcafé’ follows the same principles, focusing on fostering social interactions and collaboration in an informal and relaxed area. The furniture is arranged to create distinct zones and break up the large open space, while pendant lighting gives it a more intimate ambience.
The Final Touch: A Space Connected to Nature
Finally, even the green areas surrounding the building were adapted to extend the common areas, offering multiple seating options in a colourful space surrounded by trees and greenery. These areas provide an ideal environment for relaxing and holding informal outdoor gatherings.
Results: A Renewed Culture and Inspiring Spaces
The not only succeeded in transforming Indra’s workspaces, but also drove a profound cultural change. The new environments foster collaboration, creativity and agility, aligning perfectly with the company’s vision for the future. Thanks to this transformation, Indra has been able to adapt to the modern demands of agile working, facilitating collaboration and boosting efficiency, all within an environment that reflects its corporate values and philosophy.
